A good little Freebie!

Post by neonbob »

New Blue is offering its cartoonr plugin for free. A great addition and it seems to work well (haven't tried it in VS yet though). You do have to give up your email add, but it's worth it.

Thanks for that. I am sure Steve Jones (sjj1805) will put it in our Freebies list.

I have already downloaded it, though note that, a little sadly, they say the plug-in, in Ulead's case, is for 'Ulead Movie Studio'. However, they get it right in the drop-down...

I am also not sure what you mean about giving up your email address. I was not requested to give any identification. Just selected the platform and pressed the Download button...

Ken, you must have just downloaded it, not installed it. That is when they hit you with the registration, of which you must provide an email, or the program will not run.

1) Download "free b"
2) Registered
3) Copied the .vft file in VS10+ Directory .vft
4) Opened VS10+ , unable to locate "free b" with the filters
5) Re-booted, "free b" no where in sight.

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks,
Rich

After you rebooted can you confirm the new vft is in the vft folder?

Copying it to the vft folder is all you should have to do. You shouldn't have to reboot. I copied it and it shows in my Filters.

I didn't have to do anything. Just installed the plug-in in its separate folder in Program Files, and it seemed to install itself properly in the filters. And when I opened VS11.5+ (without rebooting), a new "Cartoon" filter appeared at the end of all the other filters...

I also took the opportunity of downloading and installing the plug-ins for Adobe Premiere and Vegas. However, as it turns out, the Adobe one does not work directly with Premiere, but with After Effects. And the Vegas one seems not to work with Vegas Movie Studio 8, though may do so with the full Vegas 8 (which I don't have).

I didn't copy it to anywhere, simply downloaded it, ran it, entered my email and got a registration number. On my system I have various versions of VideoStudio and also MediaStudio 8. It appears in all of them - the installer must search for your installations. I would think it does this via the registry because I have a dual boot Vista/XP system and it only installed in the programs in the active operating system.

I should say that simply downloading and installing the plug-in did not put it in my VS Filters, most likely because I had VS running at the time.

That is why I simply copied the new vft file to the VS vft folder (after I closed VS, of course  ).

Well it simply worked for me. I could find it in filters options. The variations are endless limited by imagination :)

I tried not moving & moving .vft file & it's not working.

The .vft file automatcally went in the VS folder.

Maybe it doesn't work with VS10+.

I simply downloaded it, ran it accepting the default locations and then registered it, finally entering the activation number that was sent to my email.

I then found it had installed itself in the following - I did not have to copy any vft files or do anything else.

VideoStudio 9

VideoStudio 10

VideoStudio 11

MediaStudio 8

It did NOT install in MediaStudio 7 but the plug in did install itself into the MSP7 vft directory
