Post by Ken Veal »

I did a screen grab with paint shop pro x of part of a brochure on line
and moved it to my pictures. When I tried it import to into VS11+ it told me
that it could not be because it was copyright protected. Is this really the case and if so how was it I could get it into the my pictures folder. Is there a legit way round this ..........Ken

First time I have heard of a problem with copright photos. Though I realise there can be copyright on photos, I had not previously heard of blocks being applied to them.

Anyway, my first thought would be to convert the screen grab to some other format e.g. if you grabbed it in jpeg format, I would try to convert it, say, to a BMP. Changing the properties may change that other fundamental factor -- the claimed copyright feature...

The legit way would be to ask permission from the copyright holder.

If so then double check that the file you are importing is not one of the following
1. Corrupted
2. Has an invalid file extension.
3. Not an image file.

I stumbled across the above error by accident. I was importing images and videos etc from previous versions into my VideoStudio 11 Library.
I selected all of the images in a directory on the hard drive and forgot to deselect the thumbnail database - automatically generated by Microsoft Windows.

Yes, that is the box that comes up Steve.I was trying in this instance to screen grab parts of a brochure that was displayed on a web site.Double or rightclcking did not show any info on the file type, the captured image in my pictures was a psp file.I have had the same problem before with some google images. How do you know if the file is corrupted .I suppose a
way round it this time is to scan the printed brochure if I send for one but this option wont always be available. ...................Ken

Just to add to Steve's reply, PSP is just a working file for PaintShop Pro, like UFO files are to PI..;) In PSP, just export the PSP file to any image format such as bmp, jpeg, png.
