Preview before Burn and AVI videos won't work - WVista

Post by San_kev »

Hello
It's me again...
I just got a Laptop (description bellow) and installed UVS11, and all the Patches; using Windows Vista Basic, I found 2 issues:

1• All *.avi videos can't load into Library due to file compatibility or copyright; even the ones that come with Samples
2• When I finish a project then go to Share and settup Chapters and Menus then click PREVIEW just before burn it, it won't play, I just see the blue bar filling to 100%.

Have you heard or experienced any of this, or is another patch that I have to load.

Thank you
SanKev

Re (2), I can o0nly suggest, as I usually do, that you go to the Microsoft DirectX site and download the latest patch (March 2007) for DirectX. Just because you have a new computer, does NOT mean you have the latest version/update of DirectX 10 (which is what Vista uses). Moreover, the Vista automatic updates do not include DirectX. You will see that the March 2007 update works on both DirectX 9 and 10. And it usually fixes the preview problem in the burning module.

Re (1) can you be specific about exactly which sample .avis do not seem to work? Can you also give the properties of other .avi files which do not work. As you should realise by now, there are a wide variety of video files which use the carrier extension .avi. And of course some of them require a specific codec to work. You might, for instance, be trying to load a sample .avi which uses the Indeo codec, but Indeo does not work under Vista...

Hi Ken...
You are good.

I was just thinking about DirectX, I did download ALMOST every plugin, but I recall I DIDN'T download DirecX.
I'm @ work right now, when I was on my way here. I had the feeling that HAS to BE DirectX; and you response make me sure that this is the problem. I'll download it AS SOON AS I get home tonight.

Thank you again....

Yes it worked...

It was DirectX and a newone IVD (i think was like that- no DivX) and now all AVI videos play and the preview play with noproblem...

Thank you again Ken
