I have learned a great deal on this forum. I am very grateful for being exposed to all the worts, features, and operational behavior of WinDVD. I am somewhat sensitive, since it has taken me almost 6 months to migrate from v6 to v8 (mostly trying to figure out the nVidia settings that work with WinDVD).

I have decided to not go with WinDVD-9 because it drops "pan-and-scan" a must have feature. I am still thinking of going back to v6 (from v8) because the control stuff appears on the same screen as the movie (v6 could display on the other monitor).

I am looking into consumer players, which at $500 will be a lot cheaper than upgrading my HTPC. I am also going to evaluate CyberLink because I can still keep WinDVD for viewing my NTSC MPEG-2 DVR content. I use Audigy2's Neo:6 to upmix the audio.

Thank you all. I'll drop by from time to time and see if I can provide any help. I've used WinDVD, beginning with v2000 (as a beta tester). The only releases I have not used are 3, 7, and now 9
