Hi Ken, i having problem posting question in this forum, after typing and click on submit, it only show a preview but did not go to the main post. can you help me with the question below or help me to post it out.
Dear mate, i'm currently using VS 11 and having this problem. please enlighten me.
1) i inserted a jpg image in overlay track.
2) Under attribute, i uses Mask & Chroma Key and check on apply overlay option and the type is Mask Frame. i have selected a frame which is located on the right.
3) after burning it to DVD and started to view it, i noticed that those images were fizzy, it is not clear, not sharp, pixalated.
Why is that so? please enlignten me? is it bcos i did something wrong? is it bcos i cannot use JPG? i tried using the original JPG (2784 pixels X 1856 pixels 72dpi) and convert it to TIFF with a 300dpi using ACD software but to no help. i tried to go to preference, under resampling quality select BEST, uncheck apply anti flickering filter in image clips but to no help too.

No reason why you cannot insert a JPG image but you may find better results if you firstly resize the image to the size of your output format
NTSC - 720 x 480 (4.3)
PAL - 720 x 576 (4.3)
You should also have the anti-flicker option turned ON when dealing with stills. If it is a slide show (i.e. you are not mixing it in with video) then use a frame based setting rather than upper/lower field first. If mixing in with video then use the field order for the video concerned.

Thank you for your wonderful advise, just want to correct this sentence, (No reason why you cannot insert a JPG image), i can insert a JPG image, but there is a great different between inserting the JPG image on a video track & a overlay track. inserting the JPG on a video track looks fine but it is so fizzy when i insert the JPG on a overlay track.
Alright, i shall try to resize my images to 720 X 480 bcos i'm using NTSC, i guess your 720 X 480 should be by pixel ya? i will give this a try and come back again.
Thks for your wonderful advise.

I have no idea why you cannot post in this thread, as you can see above I logged on with your credentials and had no problems posting. I was using Internet Explorer 7 at that time.EXR wrote:sjj1805, still cannot post i'm not sure why? i'm sorry for the trouble.
sjj1805, thk you for posting for me, i tried your advise last night but the problem still the same. you have other solution?
1) I have resize all my TIFF images to 720 x 480
2) I have anti-flicker option turned ON
3) i'm using lower field first bcos it is a combination of slides & videos.
When the still image is placed on the video track it look wonderful, but when it placed on overlay track it is really horrible. is it bcos overlay track is only meant for videos but not still images? Under attribute, i uses Mask & Chroma Key and check on apply overlay option and the type is Mask Frame. is it bcos overlay track cannot apply this kind of effect?

Technically there is no reason why images should appear sharp and clear on the video track but less so on an overlay track. It therefore seems like it is something to do with the Mask frame - to confirm this temporarily remove the mask frame leaving the picture as a simple overlay. This will if nothing else eliminate that as a cause of the problem.
