Welcome to the forums.
However, no one will be able to help without a lot more information. For a start, what is the exact model of your Sony camera? Does it film to mini DV cassette in HDV format? Or does it have a hard disk or an SD disk and film in AVCHD format.
You also don't tell us any details of your computer set-up. But if your camera is an AVCHD model, then you will need at least a Core 2 Duo computer to be even able to play the video back smoothly. Depending on your computer, you might be able to edit it using VideoStudio's SmartProxy setting. But you will need to have VS11.5+ for it to be able to do this properly with AVCHD files.

Uploading AVCHD movie from Sony HDR-SR1
Hello Ken Berry!
Thank you for your reply, but I don't know how to quote your message so I'll itemize the detail as follows:
Camera is Sony HDR-SR1 with a 30GB hard disk that records AVCHD;
Computer is ACER ASE380-EQ500U Dual Core 2GB RAM, 320GB hard drive;
Processor is AMD 64x2;
Windows Vista Ultimate;
Software is Ulead 11 Plus.
The problem is uploading the movie to the computer.
If you need more info, please advise. THANKS!
Wayne Young. (Sorry, no room to double space.)

I assume you are connecting via the camera's mini USB port. And I thought you merely transferred the files to your computer's hard drive as you would any other files from an external hard drive (which is all the camera is). Does VS see the camera as another drive? Does Windows?
Also, have you tried using the Sony software which came with the camera to do the transfer?
Also note my earlier comments about AVCHD and its usual minimum computer requirement of an Intel Core 2 Duo to be able to play back AVCHD smoothly. Don't know about AMD dual core machines, I am sorry.
