Installation failure

Post by trnoble@hotmail.com »

I am installing VideoStudio SE that came with some hardware I bought and getting an error message on about a dozen DLL files that reads ".dll doesn't match the file in the setup's .cab file". After hitting "ignore" several times the install errors out with a "fatal" error.

What can I do to install the software successfully?

trnoble,

You haven't given much information so that someone can help you. For example, there's no information about your System. Are you installing on XP or Vista? Also, what version of VideoStudio SE did you get?

trnoble,

I sounds to me (from the research that I've done) like you may have received a bad disc. I'd suggest contacting support for your video card and request a replacement CD.

Hope this helps,

Not possible, because the SE version was bundled with hardware. He needs to contact the vendor where he purchased the piece of hardware. SE versions are provided to various hardware manufacturers, sort of like an advertisement. The hardware manufacture may also alter the free bundled version, to work with their hardware. Corel will not be able supply a replacement disc. One main reason, is that Corel did not make VS10. This was prior to all the acquisitions.

So the options are; try to get the vendor to replace the disc, or throw it in the trash and purchase the current version. :(

 Just re-read your post Ron, and you do mention support for your video card.

Try the following:

1. Copy the entire contents of the CD to a hard drive folder.
2. Install VideoStudio from the setup file now contained in the hard drive folder.

If it works then make a copy of that hard drive folder to a new CD.
If it still gives the same error messages then as Ron Guthrie has mentioned you will need to contact the shop who sold you the piece of hardware that the disc came with.

Thanks for all the advice. The installation copy on the hard disk rendered the same result. I need to try to contact the manufacturer to get a new installation disk.
