video thumbnails wont load
video thumbnails wont load
Anytime I try to bring a video thumbnail preset in, nothing happens. The background in the attribute panel changes from video to the "color" background. Can someone help me. Thank you.

In the Attribute Panel select the Video radial button, and then check the Use box. This opens a browse window to locate the video file you want to use as a texture. You may want to navigate to the Video Texture part of the Easy Palette first. Select it, which will also place it on your object. Once that is done, the Right most icon at the top of the Easy Palette is activated. It looks like a folder with an arrow pointing to the right. Press this icon to add your video to the Video Texture Library....

Thanks for your reply Ron. But I quess I should have asked my question this way. I open a new project. I want to add a video background to it using a video preset under the "Scene" preset's in the Easy Palette. This is where my problem occurs. I cannot add the video preset to the project no matter what I do. I can add a video to the project that I have created from an existing video file that I saved to my hard drive.
I cannot load a video preset that came with 3DS to the new project. Any more thoughts?
Thanks again,
Greg

So from the Attributes Panel, you select Background, then Video. It opens a browse window to locate a video on your harddrive, right? You click cancel, and want to select one from the Easy Palette, however the Attribute panel returns to Color, correct so far?
Yep does the same here. I don't really know why, but it would seem that inserting a video from the Attribute panel, is for external clips and not ones in the Easy Palette included with the program.
Workaround is go to the Easy Palette and select one, by double-clicking on it or clicking the checkmark icon. You can also insert a video clip of yours, then once it is the background, add it to the Easy Palette.
Ahhhh, just checked your system properties and you're running it on Vista. This might be one of those little things that creep up, and not fixable, since it is not meant to run on Vista. Granted it will function, but sometimes little things show up..

I wish I knew of why this is not working for you. I used to have it installed on my wife's Vista Laptop. It seemed to work fine on it. I did however make sure that I ran it in Compatibility Mode for XP, and I ran it with all the "pretties" disabled, ie; a performance setting, rather than quality.
I know some older programs need Aeros disabled before they will work properly..

Locate the executable file that launches C3DPS, (u3dedit4.exe). If you have a desktop shortcut, right-click on it, and select Find Target. Once at the executable file, right-click on it, choose properties. In the dialog that opens, there should be a Compatibility tab, click on it, then you should see the Compatibility Mode option at the top.
You can set the compatibility mode at the desktop shortcut the same way..
