Thanks, I'll double check on that.
Q1: Is there anyway to simply remove the chapter level? Have the menu move from main to movie?
Q2: On the Microsoft vs. MAC war issue, do you know of a codec that would fix this MPEG problem?
Otherwise, do you know how I can export an Mp4 (which arfe supported cross-platform) at a higher resolution than 640 x 480?
Many thanks!

Possible menu bug VS 11 plus -- workaround?

Adding this:
My menu project doesn't feature a subchaper. In fact, the option as in your red highlighted example is grayed out (and showing only "main" in its gray state).
Can you actually create your own custom menu and NOT have the unwanted template appear? If so, do I have a corrupted program?
~~
The best answer for me may be the answer to this question:
Can I export as an MP4 at standard DVD resolution?

Can't help re Q2. Still have difficulty accepting that an mpeg-2 with all the attributes of a standard DVD-compatible file, is not cross-platform. I also believe that mp4 is not a good idea. It is much more heavily compressed than mpeg-2. Thus, when you make the file, the program in effect throws a lot of the data away. It is gone. Then, when you open it in Final Cut or whatever program and convert it to mpeg-2, the program has to invent the extra data now required out of thin air. Result: loss of quality.
Re Q1: As I indicated in my very first post on this thread, I still think you are not using the menu creation function properly. On the first page of the burning module, there is a button Add/Edit Chapters. Even if I don't want a chapter menu, I nevertheless usually add chapters because it makes navigaion in the eventual DVD easier. I thus press that button, go in and either insert chapters on a regular time basis e.g. every 2 minutes, or else manually select scenes as chapter breaks.
But then, when I press next, and get to the page where I select and edit the menu template, setting my background image or video and music etc in the Edit tab, I also press the Advanced button and deselect 'Add Chapter Menu'. That way, when the DVD is burned, when I put it in my DVD player, it displays the main edited menu I have made, but when I click on a thumbnail or the Play > button, it starts playing the DVD and does not display any Chapter/sub-menu because there isn't one.
As I also said in my first post, if in fact you DO want chapter menus, then in the Background image/video button, you can elect to apply your selected image to ALL menus/sub-menus. Or you can apply it to the main menu. But then you must select and apply separate images, as Steve indicated, in all the chapter screens.

Happily, I have found the solution to the mysterious MPEG-2 + Quicktime problem.
Got to purchase an add-on component for QuickTime!
"Quicktime MPEG-2 Playback Component" - (for Mac OS X -or- Windows)
See this article at apple.com

I'm pooped! What a bunch of nonsense, but it's done.
I thought you guys would like to know for any future wanderers!
