Problems with audio and subtitles importing VOB files

Post by malawix »

I am having problems with subtitles importing VOB files directly from orignal dvds. In the "info" window (just before I import a file), i can read there is the subtitles but after I have imported it, the subs are "off" and no way to import them (the only things i can do is to "work" on the VOB file and save the subs in a .srt file).
Another problem that is occurring right now is with audio, with one specific file though. In the import window, i read there is the audio stream (and if I check the video I can hear it), but after I've imported it, the properties of the video says "no audio". This is strange, isnt it?

Is there anyone who can help me?. Thanks. Alessandro.

I believe it's normal to loose subtitles when you import. :(

Importing DVDs can be "difficult". If all of your DVDs come from the same DVD-recorder, or from the same DVD-camera, you can usually find a procedure that works consistently. But, if you are importing DVDs from several different sources, it will sometimes be a challenge.

Is there anything different (compared to the "good" DVDs) with the audio format on the DVD that won't import?

You may need to look for a different "DVD ripping" program. VOB 2 MPG is FREE, so it's probably worth a try.

And, you can find programs to "rip" DVD audio. If you can get the audio into a WAV file, you can use that separate audio file with Movie Factory.
