email function gives unspecified error

Post by summermh »

I'm using Windows Vista Mail program -- have tried the e-mail function within Paintshop Pro several times and continue to receive an "unspecified error, mail not sent." Have attempted with Mail program open and closed, it's my default program. How do I get this function to work? The program is newly installed, version 11.20.

thanks,
Summer

Hiya,

I had the same problem though I have WinXP and Thunderbird for email. The solution was to set "Program Access and Defaults" so that Windows knew what program to call up when PSPX tried to email.

I don't have Vista but I'm assuming this'll be mostly the same as XP:

Go to Control Panel -> Add/Remove Programs

Open "Program Access and Defaults"

Under "Email" make sure that the email program you want to use is selected, then click Ok.

After I did that the error message immediately went away and everything worked fine.

Best of luck!

Fabulous, it worked -- thanks so much! Never would have thought to do that, as all signs showed Windows Mail was already my default (nothing else loaded for email).

Yay! Glad it worked. Yep its odd - to me it looks as if PSP just don't know how to check that "use my default email program" setting but is okay when you set Windows to use any one specific email program instead. For what its worth, I have a few other applications that suffer from exactly the same problem, so maybe its more of a Windows thing than a PSP thing ;-)
