uvpl.exe at Logon

Post by elyoh »

I'm using Ulead VS 11.5 Plus.

The Ulead UVS11 Preload (uvpl.exe) program starts every time I start up my computer and I have come to the conclusion that it is slowing the log on time quite a bit.

Is it necessary to run this program or if I disable it, will it just be a simple case of waiting a little longer when I run the VS program for the first time (which is preferable)

I'm going to try it a see later and see what effect it has, just wondered if anyone knew/had tried it before I did, in case it causes problems and I end up having to reinstall the program.

Thanks

It's not necessary, it's basically just a prefetch utility, that makes VS load just a little bit faster. I have it disabled.

I have never used the preload program. I have just timed the start-up of VS11.5 on my current computer (see my System button for details), and it took exactly 20 seconds for the program to be fully operational. I have not run the program previously on this boot-up.

My that was a fast reply. Thanks, that's helpful.

I found this application from Microsoft:
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysi ... 63902.aspx

It allows you to turn off certain entries from running at startup and turn them on again if need be.

I'll let u know if it makes any difference to log on speed.

Okays' tried it. Seems to log on a little faster, maybe 5 seconds or so.

The VS11.5 loads in about 30 seconds with the preload disabled. No change at all from when it was enabled.
