Cannot capture video

Post by girly »

I am using VS11 and when trying to capture video from my Sharp DV camcorder I get a message 'cannot start capture graph'. I have not had this before but this is the first video I am capturing with VS11.

Any help please.

And of course you have the Sharp connected via Firewire...?

If so, have you tried either connecting the camera via Firewire and only when the camera is switched on in PLAY mode, open Video Studio...

OR Open Video Studio, then connect the camera and switch it on. VS should normally then detect the camera and ask if you want to use it.

I cannot think of a reason why you cannot capture using Firewire... If you don't already have it, go to windv.mourek.cz and download a small, freeware program called WinDV. It only captures DV format via DV but does it well and with no dropped frames. If you have problems with that, then it will at least show that it is not Video Studio that is the problem but possibly something related to hardware.

I do not think this works with Vista as I tried it and it didn't recognise my
camcorder.

I have only had this problem since getting VS11+, had no problems before.

BTW it works with Windows MM.

Capture using WMM or an earlier version of VS then import into v11 for editing.

Hi everybody,
I had the same problem when I upgraded from VS 10 + to VS 11 +.
I was advised to reload VS10+ which I did and when I returned to VS11+ the problem was resolved. I don't know why, but you could try it if you have VS10+
