I was curious so I did a performance comparison. Both computers converted and burned the exact same 5.11GB mpeg 2 file to a single layer DVD using the same sata DVD burner.
One computer was a Pentium 4 Northwood at 3.0Ghz on a 945 chipset with 2GB¡¦s of memory and Vista Home Premium with SP1.
The other computer was a Core 2 Duo E8400 Wolfdale at 3.0Ghz with 4GB¡¦s of memory and Vista Home Premium x64 with SP1.
The Pentium 4 finished the job in 1 hour, 52 minutes.
The Core 2 Duo finished the job in 42 minutes.
