Hi,
I just upgrade from COOL3D 3.0 to COOL3D Production Studio.
Was told by the retailer that, the upgrade disc would search for the 3.0 version or any valid reason before installing PS.
It installed properly and my question is that can I safely un-install 3.0 from my PC without any side effects eg. missing DLL or anything else?
Am having fun with it and do not want to un-install and mess up everything.
Also I upgrade to PS 1.0.1
I tried installing the Component Downloads (C3DS_1 Materials etce..etc) from ULEAD Website..
The installer program keeps saying they cannot find the PS 1.0 program.
Does it indicate
a) 1.0.1 already has all the components (in the websites)and I do not need any further components ?
b) Or the installer program can only install into 1.0 versions and not 1.01 versions.
Last of all.. what is the difference between 1.0 and 1.01??
Besides vertical something and HT enabled.
Thanks in advance for any help rendered. Current afraid to un-install COOL3D 3.0

You should uninstall COOL 3D 3.0 first then install COOL 3D Production Studio. Now if you uninstall COOL 3D 3.0, some DLLs of COOL 3D Production Studio will be missing because they share those DLLs and Effect Plug-ins.OinkyPig wrote:Hi,

If you installed COOL 3D Production Studio from CD, then you do not need to install the components because they are already installed.Am having fun with it and do not want to un-install and mess up everything.

1.0.1 fixes some rendering bugs and changes the product brand name from COOL 3D Studio to COOL 3D Production Studio.b) Or the installer program can only install into 1.0 versions and not 1.01 versions.

Not that I am doubting, the Technical guys came back to me and said it was alright to un-install now.
I also checked with the retailer, and their answer was since I got the upgrade set, it must be able to detect a previous version so if I un-installed the older version, it can install PS into my PC.
*Scratch my head over this*
Would you by chance also happen to be a ULEAD Staff ?
I am playing around with PS and am stuck at one project.
Long Story:
I did a text project with a scenry background taken from the PS Easy Palette.
I output to .MOV and was able to get the background I choosen in the output file.
I then did another text project with a different scenry file.
This time, I output to .MPEG2 DV standard as it was going into a DVD project.
Now, I cannot get the background out in the output file.
Initial I thot that the scenry file is only 320X240 so PS cannot output it properly, So I lowered my outfile to MPEG1 but I think cannot get the background out.
The resultant files can be played in Windows Media Player but I cannot get the background scenry.
Anyone knows of this problem or knows what I did wrong?

I think yes the Technical guy should be correct, sorry for my mis-leading.
Please select File->Create Video File->Options->Compression->Data Type to check which video mode are you using for exporting the video.
If you are outputing COOL 3D project as DV AVI or MOV files, please remember not to export the DV AVI/MOV file in 32bit color mode if you wish to keep the background. Because if you select to output as a 32bit color mode video file, the background will be key-out and the video file will become an Overlay video, which you can use to import into some video editor to have some video on video effects. To set the output video mode less than 24bit will let you have the background in the output video file.
Hope this helps.

Thanks HTCHien.
Now I know the reason.
Cause I always do my .AVI or MPEG2 as 32 Bit *shucks*
Didn't know that 32 bit would be video overlay.
The manual didn't say that.
Do you know where to get a comprehensive manual / book on Cool3D PS ? The manual is kindof brief and guess 1st time users like me get lost trying to do something that probably is already there.
