linking audio and video in MSP 7
I was wondering if there is a way to link audio and video clips together that were not originally linked. I am working on a project in stages, and I would like to link the music with the video clips I already have, so that if I later want to move those clips around I don't have to match up the music again. thanks.
Once again, your post does not give any details, nor have you complied with the PLEASE READ THIS... thread.
If your project is in a non-lossy (or near) format, such as HuffYUV, DV etc., you could Create a new video file of the definitive part and that would link the two. This would be poor practice if your project is in a distribution, as opposed to an editing, format, such as MPEG, WMV, DivX, XviD etc, because the repeated rendering would create a loss of video quality. These formats were never designed for editing.
So, if you told us exactly what you were doing, we would have been able to give you a better answer, geared to your needs, wouldn't we?
Incidentally, an upgrade to MSP8 would be helpful for you, because you could put the different parts onto separate timelines.

Another helpful response, Brian.
Connie - just hold down <Shift><Ctrl> while you select your clips (audio or video - doesn't matter) and all clips wholly or partly within that timeframe will be selected. Right-click any of your selection and choose "Group".
Use it sparingly, though: It's possible to "nest" groups, so if you find the need to ungroup them, you may get unexpected results if you've grouped some clips then grouped the groups.
