Video image way too dark, almost black
My monitored and captured video image is way too dark, almost black. Only the brightest parts show up. I can't find any controls on this. Any help?
I will save you a great deal of wasted time and frustration. The answer is that there are no controls within the windvd application for blu-ray. However, you should still be able to correct the problem outside of the windvd application. While playing a blu-ray disc, downsize windvd on your desktop, open up your Nvidia control panel and manually adjust your brightness and contrast there. You will be able to optimize the brightness and end up with stellar image and video quality. A bit more of a hassle, but it works great.

video too dark
Thanks , Steele, for your reply on the too dark. However, I don't have Blue Ray. I have an older Plextor ConvertX PX M 402-U converter (analog to DVD) running through a USB to my slow computer using the WinDVD capture and rudimentary editing system. It used to work just fine. Lately it comes out so black as to be almost gone. Faint shows of the brightest light show up barely. Very dark and red.
The Hi8 player puts out the regular signal to a monitor. Both the S cable and the RCA (composite? component?) cables to the ConvertX end up with the dark signal, so I doubt it is in the cables. It may be a faulty ConvertX, or some change in the WinDVD (I reinstalled it yesterday and it didn't help).
I can't register this product with Corel (bought Intervideo, which had sold the ConvertX) so I'm hoping Steele or someone else here has a fix for this.
