When I connect my panasonic mini dv cam I can control the camera via the usb from the VS11 video interface but I get an error message
"unable to switch to capture mode check your video capture driver is working properly"
It worked ok a couple of months ago - is there anyway I can re-install the capture driver or is it a case of software uninstall and re-install?
If anyone knows of an easy fix I'd appreciate it - the reason I don't want to do a re-install is because of the problems I had with the embedded update software.
cheers
Bill

You need to throw the USB cable away and use an IEEE1394 Firewire cable instead. It is one of life's mysteries why camcorder manufacturers seem to supply a USB cable and not a firewire cable.
They are reasonable cheap, I bought a firewire kit from PC World - a computer superstore in the UK - this consisted of a firewire cable and also a PCI firewire card (your computer might already have a firewire output socket) and it cost ¢G15 GBP.

Thank you sj - I must have had a senior moment - I have a PCMIA card and a firewire cable ! I am so use to working with DSLRs and point and shoot cameras it comes as second nature to connect a USB cable.
the usb cable/socket on the camera is so it can be use as a webcam!
1000 thanks
