Clips look fine - but look "foggy" when put in to
Okay - I'm confused. Capture worked fine - Auto split into scenes went fine - then, I played with a couple of the "video filters". I thought I took them out (and it appears, according to the "attributes" that there are no "filters" in place. But - when I play the "clip" it looks fine (captured from a Canon XL1/mini DV).....but when I assemble clips in to the timeline and run the "preview", the video looks "foggy"??....literally, it looks hazy!? What am I doin' wrong here....??

Your captured files will be on your hard drive, right click on one of the clips and check the properties tab to discover its filename and location.
You can then try playing that file directly from windows Explorer with any convenient software on your computer such as Windows Media Player.
If you are happy that the source files are O.K. then you could try starting a new project and importing your clips from the hard drive.
I always suggest that when you are working on a project to save the project whenever you reach a point that you are happy with so that you can always revert to that point in the event of a disaster or if you simply change your mind. The easy way to do this is to add a numbered suffix to the project.
Example
MyProject01
MyProject02
MyProject03
....
MyProject09
etc.
