Transitions

Post by Scott_Mullen »

Is it possible to have a simple "dissolve" transition in the slideshows rather than the "jagged" looking wipes?

While I have installed the extra content pack... I can't get it to work. The extra transitions are visible but the only ones that will work are the ones in the original "build" section.

Any suggestions?

I have exactly the same problem - installed the 345MB content pack, but MF4 ignores it. The The dropdown lists offer all the choices and the sample graphic animation functions normally. The selected transition is simply not applied to the slides. The original "build" choices work normally as Scott reports.

What am I missing?

Not MF2, but MF3 (with latest patch) is installed.

Is there a link to removal notes? Some registry keys can be hard to find.
Thanks

That was useful info, John

Turns out it was not necessary to go the whole way with deleting registry keys, etc to get the transitions to work properly.
In my case under XP-ProSP1, starting from MF4 plus Content installed after and alongside MF3 (3SE, and not patched), I did:
1. remove MF3 via Windows Add/Remove
2. note that MF4 now gives a "Key Missing" error when starting
3. note that MF4 still works, but only will create SlideShows
4. ~custom~ reinstall MF3 from the CD but saying NO to all the extras like Windows Media "update", and restarting if/when asked

After the restart, MF4 works as advertised. So far, only one crash in 15-20 hours of use.

I did the same thing on my desktop machine (XPHome-SP2) and the behavior and results were the same.

Thanks again.
