What a record!

Post by Nick Mirro »

This is not a criticism of the folks who reply to pleas for help. You are probably our only vestige of hope for assistance, but...

I am just observing that NONE of the problems posted here seem to get resolved. Having a sinking feeling about my recent post, I reviewed the 15 most recent posts and see that (maybe) 1 of them had the situation resolved. What a record!

Again I am not looking a gift horse in the mouth (whatever that means). This is just a huge indictment against Corel. My feeling about them (being a very long time customer) is that they are using overly desparate tactics even in an insanely competitive industry.

Maybe having to go head to head (and now head to ankle) against Microsoft for so long has left them completely without morals. No need to mention the added factor of a steadily worsening environment for consumers since 2000, as in the marginalization of the FTC.

A campaign against Corel's exceedingly bad behavior is needed. I do not intend to pay my credit card charge for this false advertizing. What a laugh to think that they would like me to pay another $15 (80 + 15) = $95 to find out that the claim of supporting H.264 was way overstated and is misleading. I would rather have all my money back, which would be the right and ethical outcome.

I would tend to agree with you. I posted recently and received no reply's. I then noticed someone had the same issue as me (no sound when ALL2HD is selected via the SPDIF output).

Lesson learned. I recently visited a forum regarding WINDVD vs. the competition. Not one person said they used WINDVD. I will not name the competition but all you know to whom I reference.

Lack of support is an amazing talent that has been cultivated by software companies. I will tell you that the lack of support at Electronic Arts has let me to NEVER buy from them again. They are NOT the only game in town nor is WinDVD.

Even a reply such as.....no idea what would cause that......trying to recreate.........sorry for the troubles.........

That is to much to ask for.

Hi guys and I sympathize with your frustrations. No one here is from Corel, we are all customers like yourselves. To understand the current lack of responses to WinDVD problems let me explain.

This User to User Web Board began life several years ago Using PHPBB Version 1. It was replaced and a fresh start made when PHPBB2 was released - this is the current Web Board software. So even though the earliest posts on this Web Board date back to 2004 in fact many of us migrated from the old Web Board.

The Web Board was created by the software Company Ulead.
The products the Web Board catered for included VideoStudio, MediaStudio, MovieFactory, DVD Workshop, Cool 3D Production Studio and a few others.
A large membership soon evolved with quite a big knowledge base.

A couple of years ago Ulead merged with Intervideo.
At this time the Web Board was enlarged to include forums for the Intervideo Range - WinDVD being one of them. Unfortunately we have not seen any experts from the Intervideo Community come forward to assist with troubleshooting. The present day Web Board Management team comprise solely of members from the original Ulead days.

A further merger took place about a year ago with Corel. It is interesting to note that I recently expanded the Web Board again to include Paint Shop Pro - this being a "Corel" Product and already at least 2 persons joined the Web Board and have begun offering valuable advice and assistance to that community. It is likely that both may be promoted to Moderator Status in the near future.

I welcome any constructive ideas that may help increase our pool of experts for the former Intervideo Range and I agree that currently these members are not getting the level of help that the Web Board Management Team would like.

No Corel technical support for WinDVD

Post by BvN »

I posted my "opinion" under the wish list. Their support is for newbies at best. My company installs and maintains these kind of systems. My involvement here is personal and DIY. Anything truly interesting is outside their scope. I would like to add my knowledge base, but don't know where to post it. I've spent 6 months migrating from v6 to v8 and am not done yet. I've found no help anywhere on the web. Re-inventing the wheel is irritating.

I am currently running v8 platinum and will not migrate to v9 or such until this resource problem is fixed.
