Anybody else having a problem setting the recording speed, and then reporting the correct speed?

I think the problem is that no one understands what it is you're asking.

I don't know of any setting to set or report the "recording speed." I don't know what you mean by "recording speed."

Are you talking about capturing? Rendering? Playback speed after burning a DVD? Or ?????

Thank you, on the final page for recording a disk. Under advance burner settings there is an area to set recording speed.
Then as the disk is being recorded it may or may not show the same speed you selected. If you selected four times, it may show recording at 8 times. . Sometimes it has even showed "recording at 1X" but it gets done much sooner than 1X.

I can't say for sure, but that is probably a combination of the interaction between what your burner is able to do, the capability of the DVD blanks that you're using and the bitrate you've selected to use.

Thank you, I expect the program to be able to compute all that and then tell me the correct speed it is recording at. Thanks again

burn speeds

keep in mind that burners can burn at different speeds (even though you specified a certain speed).

The realtime readout can represent the speed something is burning at the moment, but it can change during the same burning session depending on the dvd burner.

CAV, CLV, Z-CLV... Have a look at this:

Apparently it's a lot like kids. It does what it wants, when it wants, the way it wants. The best you can do is make a polite suggestion as to how you would like it done. (I was going to say women instead of kids, but decided I'd get into too much touble.)

Burning speed

It seems that MF can't burn DVD at a faster speed. MF 3 can only burn at 2X max. I expect MF 4 to be better but no. I have 3 DVD burners on the same PC - TDK 8X, LG 16X & Benq 16X. On other programs like Nero & Sonic I can burn at the same speed as the media I used but when I used these 8X media on MF 4, the highest speed is only 4X.
Is this the best Ulead can offer or is there a solution?

Tony, are you sure your disks are really 8x disks? I have a spindle I bought that are labelled 8X disks, but when I checked them with a small program I found that checks the actual code on the DVD's, they were listed as being only 4X disks. Just a thought.

Yes - they are 8X disks. When using Nero, there's no problem burning at 8X. In fact when I use my Benq 1620 16X, I can burn at 12X using 8X disks. Only MF is giving problems. In fact MF3 is worse - max 2X using 8X disks.
