Please help with mpeg problem for VS9...

Post by bartez111 »

Hello all,

I have not used VS9 on my computer for about 2 years and just recently i needed to use it again.

The problem is that I cannot load mpeg video into my projects and get the following error when I start up the programme:

Mpeg error
c:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Ulead systems\Product Name\Ver\App.ini

Now I havent got a clue how to rectify this situation and re-installing is not an option as I dont have the disk as it was an upgrade added to VS7.

Thanks for any help guys! :D

Do you mean you dont have a copy of VS7 or VS9 or don't have copies of either?

Hi thanks for the reply.

What I mean is that I have the disk for VS7 but I downloaded the VS9 update as an add on and the link has long since expired and it is not even registered in my purchase history in my account here anymore for some reason I cant understand.

Normally I would suggest a re-install but as this isn't an option try the following:

Copy all of the files from
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Ulead Systems\MPEG
and paste them to
C:\Program Files\Ulead Systems\Ulead VideoStudio 9.0

It's also possible that there is a problem with this particular MPEG file.

You might try downloading the trial version of VS11. If VS11 also has problems with the file, then the MPEG file is probably corrupt. If it works, you have the option of upgrading to VS11.

I've had a few (apparently corrupt) MPEG-2 files that Video Studio couldn't open.* (These files played fine with Windows Media Player.) MPEG-4 files seem to cause even more trouble, but I don't have any personal experience with MPEG-4 because I've been able to avoid it... so far.

* I've also had MPEG-2 files that caused other "weird problems", such as crashing or "lip sync" problems. In every case, the file would play fine with Windows Media Player.

Thanks for the help guys but it still hasnt fixed the problem it is saying its an 'mpeg mio driver error' whatever that means.

The Mpeg-2 I am using is definately not corrupt as it works fine in VS7, its just that I feel upset about the fact that I purchased VS9 but can no longer use it as i only work with Mpeg-2.

Now you've found the installation pack I strongly suggest you back it up onto a CD/DVD.

Glad you're back in business.
