WinDVD 9 - SPDIF Output

Post by Fast »

Looking for some help. I had WinDVD 8 and used the SPDIF output feature without any issues for Dolby and DTS. I now have WinDVD9 and get crackling noises when I try to use the SPDIF.

I have a Creative Soundblaster X-Fi Xtremegamer Fatal1ty Professional Series sound card 9 (with the latest drivers). I use Logitech Z 5500 Digital Speakers. Motherboard is ASUS P5N32-E SLI Plus motherboard with two 8800GTX cards in SLI.

I have a digital cable and it works. It worked with WinDVD 8. With WinDVD9 the 6 speaker setting plays sound. When I change it over to SPDIF I get cracking and no sound.

Any help would be appreciated. Also....I do not have a Blu-Ray rom drive yet. The issue I am having is with regular DVD's. The upconvert of regular DVD's is amazing! Picture is fine.....just sound :(

Thanks in advance to all who provide any feedback.

quick update

If I select the options menu (looks like a gear) and the go into the audio/video tab and select Use Hardware Decode Acceleration...well then the sound works.

Only problem is I have to do this as the movie starts. If this Hardware Decode Acceleration is selected at the onset the menu and and previews don't show!

So basically I take off the Hardware Decode till movie starts then I put it on and get Dolby Digital in SPDIF.

Buggy....still a great looking product.
