Help Needed for Animated Cartoon Editing

Post by dr.onestone »

Hello,
I need some hints how to generate an animated cartoon of single stills which are subsequently painted on the PC screen.

My first trials have been performed by using the programs IRFANVIEW and ULEAD VIDEOSTUDIO 10, but the results have not been very successful (no clean and sharp single pictures in ULEAD VIDEOSTUDIO, the display length of each imported single picture can not been adjusted to a period between 50 and 60 msec.)

I have used the CAPTURE/SCREENSHOT function of IRFANVIEW which enables the shot of the screen (or the active window) by a single hit of the keyboard (or automatically and subsequently after a period of time). Storing the shot you can choose a lot of different file formats. I have selected JPG and BMP, but both formats deliver very bad (unsharp) results when I pass it over to ULEAD VIDEOSTUDIO. Do I have to set some parameters in ULEAD VIDEOSTUDIO to get better results? May be that JPG and BMP are not the appropriate formats for ULEAD VIDEOSTUDIO?

To get smooth motions I think I have to deliver about 18 stills per second to ULEAD VIDEOSTUDIO. But the default value for the display period of a still is only selectable in units of seconds (setting the preferences). Is there the possibility to adjust the display length of each imported single still to e.g. 50 or 60 msec?

I import the stills to the timeline of ULEAD VIDEOSTUDIO by selecting portions of about 300 JPG files. Is this the right way?

Thank you very much in advance for your help!
Much regards

I am using Windows XP.
My Ulead VideoStudio is version 10.
My camcorder camera is Sony DCR DVD-505.
Thus - my source video is MPEG-2 stored on small DVD disks.

Sorry,
by accident I have selected the wrong forum for this question.
I have replaced this question once again in the forum "VideoStudio", where I think it belongs to.
Nevertheless - if somebody reads here my question and wants to reply, please go to the article in the forum "VideoStudio" with the same subject title.
Much regards
