30 limit on motion menu and intro music duration

Post by tommytucker »

Would be nice if I could set that longer by even a few seconds for a more complete music 'loop' during the motion thumbnail menu. Is there some tweak anyone knows for making that duration up to 45 seconds? Using VS10+.

Cannot be done with VideoStudio/MovieFactory.
Can be done with DVD Workshop 2.

Under normal circumstances, I would have thought 30 seconds quite long enough for someone to make up their mind what they wanted to watch on the DVD...

As for the 'loop' you mentioned, why is 45 seconds more of a complete cycle than 30 seconds? How long is a piece of string???

I usually in any case do either one of two things. I tailor a SmartSound track to just under 30 seconds so that I have a loop with an obvious beginning and end. I find this the most 'professional' sounding approach. The other alternative is to trim a piece of audio to fit the 30 seconds using a third party audio editing program, and add a fade at the end so that there is no sudden unprofessional sound cut-off as the audio loops...

find the intro scene fascinating. all of those little thumbnails running like little movies. Perhaps they are not 'normal', but we are just too jaded with what we consider a rather pedestrian intro screen, but hey, I am happy they are easilly entertained. The aburpt ending was what was kind of jarring to me, probably not to them. I will try your suggestions on tailoring the end of the music.

I should have added that if you have SonicFire Pro -- which is the main editing program for SmartSound music -- you can even choose to make a proper loop for the required 30 seconds. You may be able to do with this with SmartSound QuickTracks as well, though I don't know since I never use it...

No need to "tailor" the music. Simply add a fade out. That can be done in the menu creation phase.
