new to 11+

Post by Logos »

Just purchased the new Studio 11+ via the download. Do I need to install the updates via the website or should the program already be updated with the latest since I downloaded the latest via this purchase?

There were 3 files total for my download.

UVS11Plus_E (the main program)
UVS11Plus_ESD_E_content
UVS11_Plus_ESD_ENG_PowerPack

Am I good to go or do I need anything else to be all up to speed? Thanks in advance for your help.

Kind regards,

Uh ... no ... you also need to download and install the update patch dated 6 November 2007 available on the Ulead.com download page (below the Power Pack which is dated 8 November...)

At the end of installing all these (and notionally the 6 Nov patch should be installed before the Power Pack), you should be able to go to Help > About Ulead Video Studio and find that the version number is 11.5.0157.2 Plus.

However what I'm seeing on both Ulead and Corel's sites, they do not sell the 11.0+ any longer, only VS11.0 and VS11.5 plus. Which means the Power Pack is not needed.

My point being that until such time as we see 'UVS11.5Plus_E' instead of, as the poster has put it eloquently, UVS11Plus_E, then how can any of us be sure exactly what they are selling. Heavens above, they were selling VS11/11+ without all the links to the the various download files for a long time there and it was us who were giving people all the links!!! Sorry, I just don't trust Corel to be doing the right thing now, all of a sudden!!!

Well ... just burned an AVCHD disk edited from .TOD files onto a dual layer disc with a menu and it works flawlessly. I'd imagine I don't have to install anything further. :)

vidoman et. al,

If you upgrade to 11.5Plus from 10Plus (like I did), what you get in the ESD is 11Plus, Bonus content, and Content. Then you have to go online to the Ulead/Corel site and download the free Powerpack to get 11.5Plus. BTW, it's too bad that they stopped including Cool 3D in the bonus software, I was hoping they'd offer Cool 3D 3.5.

Thanks for that Ron, we now know that what their web page reflects is not accurate. ;)

rguthrie --- re Cool 3D -- I suspect they dropped giving away Cool 3D because the assumption these days is that people are using Vista and Cool 3D is not supposed to work with Vista. In practice, however, I have got my copy of Cool 3D Production Studio (the big brother of Cool 3D) running on my Vista computer running in XP compatibility mode. And it works just fine.

Re your upgrade path to VS11.5 -- that is exactly the same way all of us have gotten 11.5 from the word go. So things haven't changed -- only Corel advertising saying they are selling VS11.5+ ... without any small print telling you that you are buying in fact VS11+ and after that you follow a free upgrade download path.

Is there a simple way within the program to see what version I'm running? Like in most programs there is "Help" on the menu and you click "About" on that menu and it'll show the user what version they are running. I looked but couldn't find this in VS11+.

When I go to the link for the latest powerpack I'm taken through a little sequence (via the ftp site) that I did when I purchased the program and the file name and size is identical to what I downloaded ... UVS11_Plus_ESD_ENG_PowerPack ...

I have all hte features in my program that is says are supposed to come with that power pack so perhaps they did get it right and perhaps I am running 11.5+. At least that's what all the signs are telling me.

You'll find the "About" by clicking on the question mark, top right.

Hi everyone,

It's funny how "they" didn't update the splash screen to indicate that we have 11.5 Plus like the picture of the box shows on "their" site! I know it's a small detail, but it sure would end a bit of confusion for folks.

Ron G.

I say "they" because is it Ulead?...InterVideo?...Corel?.....next week maybe it's Google and freeware (yea!)!

Ok... well what do you know. The product I did purchase was as is. The downloads from the purchase did take me to all the necessary installs. It is indeed 11.5.0157.1 Plus

And something else interesting ... In another program I use that also burns AVCHD discs it would *never* allow me to burn the projects to any other dual layer media than Verbatim. I thought I'd give my old Memorex discs (which were basically collecting dust) a whirl and what do you know ... project burned successfully. :P This is good.

If your version number ends in 1, then you still need to download and install the above update patch... It should be version 11.5.0157.2 PLUS if you have everything required correctly installed...
