Rolling Credits?

Post by ConnieR. »

I have MSP7, and I had a couple of problems that I haven't been able to figure out. (Well, not really problems, just user ignorance. :) ) First, I was wondering if there is a way to have rolling credits at the end of the video, just scrolling up from the bottom. Also, I wanted to have the credits at the start crossfade in and out. I couldn't figure out how to do it. I tried using the "Title Clip" feature, but that has all sorts of fancy animations, not what I want. Could someone please explain how to do it if it is possible? If it's not possible with MSP7, is it possible with MSP8, or could I maybe get a plugin or something?
Also, I was wondering if its possible to reverse the directions of some of the trasition FX. I wanted to use the "Page Flip", but I don't want the page to turn from the bottom left hand corner, but from the bottom right hand corner. I still want the transition fro Va to Vb.
Thanks guys for your help.

The titler in MSP7 is not really suitable for long credits. Some got round this by using an external application to write the credits on, say, a 720 x 2000 pixel canvas and then using Moving Path. However, the no.of vertical pixels is limited.

MSP8 has an astoundingly better titler!

None of which actually answers Connie's question.

To get rolling credits, in the titles, select the "animation" tab. Change its type to "fly" and select the penultimate option.

To get titles to crossfade, use the overlay options dialog. Set a couple of keyframes near either end of the titles, then set the first and last keyframes (the ones that were already present) to be 100% transparent.

To change the direction of transitions such as page turn, click on one of the direction arrows bottom-left of the transition dialog.

Hope this helps...

To work around the limitation of text length you can split your title into two (or more). Its most easy if you allow a pause where not text is on the screen, but you can also overlap them, so when the first one is in the upper half of the screen the second one has allready started at the lower one. Only disadvantage is, that you have to divide your text. But I am sure that it works, because I have done it at times before MSP8.

Thanks, everybody. I'll try these suggestions and see if they work.

That's not the only problem - it's also really hard to get both sets of credits advancing up the screen at the same speed.

yes - now I remember. I had to count the lines of each title and set the duration accordingly. (Problems are even greater, if you use text of different sizes.)

Thanks, Gorf. I didn't realize there were two rows of animations in that tab. i found one for rolling up. I also used your suggestions for crossfades and reversing the page turn. That worked great.

I've done some quite long rolling credits etc using the animation settings in title. You can prepare the text in a WP app, cut & paste into the text area. I found that it can make it all quite unresponsive though, but if you bear with it that works for me.

PS, getting a two column list with left and right justification is harder.
