Cannot create a file in high res format

Post by avinaru »

So I am using the trial version to see if I like the product.
I have a question. When I try and create a file to share with someone to it does not work on their PC.

It works when I it is in a lower resolution but when I use another other format it does not work on someones system.

Is this because it is a trial version or is this because I am doing somehthing wrong?

When I try and create a file in NTSC MPEG2 it works on my computer but on anyone elses.

It keeps saying there is a cadec error. What do I need to do?

The problem is more likely to be with the other person's computer, rather than anything you are doing. Unless your friend (and others who might get your latest video) have a usable mpeg-2 codec on their computer, the video won't play on their computer. And as far as I am aware, an mpeg-2 codec is not included as part of the ordinary installation of Windows of any variety ('98, XP or Vista). The only mpeg codec installed with Windows is for mpeg-1, which is a fairly low quality one which was (and still is) used for Video CD discs (VCDs), and also for streaming video on the web.

So the solution is either to find and send an mpeg-2 codec to your friend or get him/her to Google for one and install it.

However, try not to suggest that he/she install a mega codec pack. It would be like using a sledgehammer to crack a nut. Moreover, such packs usually cause more problems than they are worth. However, if you obtain such a pack, you can identify an mpeg-2 codec in it and select only that for installation.

Alternatively supply them with a copy of your video in a format that can be recognised by Windows Media Player such as WMV.
