import from dvd audio problem vs11
I've got a problem capturing from a dvd.
I don't get an audio.
I have successfully imported from a dvd created by another dvd recorder, and it says the audio is dolby digital 2 channel surround.
I've just bought myself a dvd recorder and when I try to import it says the audio is mpeg-1 or mepg-2 without extension bitstream. This is the one that does not work.
Any ideas anybody?
Thanks!

I do not get sound in either/any application, so no, the clips do not play normally in VSlancecarr wrote:If the sound is not appearing in WMP it may be that you don't have a Dolby codec associated with WMP.
If the clips play normally in VS then you can assume both the video and audio are in fact present but that WMP is not capable of decoding the sound.

If you are using the "Import from DVD/VR" function in VS and are actually getting the files into VS could you please "right click" on one of them from within VS. Don't right click in Windows as it doesn't produce much information.
Post the properties of one of the offending clips back here so we can see it.

Given that the DVDs from other recorders have worked before I would just go into a process of elimination at this point.
*If you are not finalizing before placing the discs in the DVD tray of the computer and importing from there then try it with a finalized disc.
*If you are importing with the disc still in the recorder itself then I would be getting suspicious of the SCART connections.
*You have not posted as to whether the discs are playable with sound in any other device. Take one of the discs to a friends place with a DVD player that handles RW and see if there is sound actually on the disc.
* You are using +RW discs, does the device manual say the device is compatable with +RW?

I've tries it with a finalised dvd+r disc and it's just the same - but it would seem it's my computer perhaps.
I'm playing the dvd and importing it from my pc.
The disc plays in another dvd player with audio. When I play it on my pc using real player I don't get any sound.
A dvd+r disc that did work on my pc had dolby digital 2 channel surround.
The dvd recorder I've got creates mpeg-1 or mepg-2 (so VS11 says)
Anybody know why or what I can do about it?
