Try viewing this animated tutorial, where I explain the project properties and preferences. It may help you understand some of these..

BTW everyone,

You can have transitions between overlay tracks using my powertip that I discussed in http://phpbb.ulead.com.tw/EN/viewtopic.php?t=30545. Let's say that you have one overlay track with two videos that you would like to transition. Here's how to do it:
  • Open a new project.
Bring in the two clips to your main video track.
    Place (and tweak) your transition.
    Save your project.
    Open a new project (CTRL-N).
Select File -> Insert Meda File to Timeline -> Insert Video and select your just saved (.vsp) project file.
VideoStudio will place it on the main timeline by default, but it's easy to move. Of course, this method can get more complicated depending on what you want to do with your overlays. That just means you'll have to do some preplanning before you just dive into your project.

Hope this helps,
Ron G.

P.S. How would you like to have an audio track for music, a track for your video's audio (that you've used filters on, which means that you had to split your audio from the video), and have a narration track. That means three audio tracks total. Aw jeez, we only have two. Hmm, will my powertip work for that too? I know the answer, now you try it!
