WINDVD 9 PLUS BLU RAY HOW TO GET A REFUND ?

Post by tobias »

I've just bought WinDVD 9 plus blu ray via download and i'm sorry to say it's absolutely awful - I have been playing blu ray discs and HD-DVD discs all day on my PC ( which is fully HDCP compliant as is the monitor ) using Nero Showtime and it worked flawlessly with no problems at all.

Being a WinDVD fan, I stupidly decided to upgrade from windvd 8 to 9 plus blu ray to see how it worked. I paid for it,a ctivated it and sat back to see what happened.

I can't tell you how it works as the program is bloated, buggy and refuses to play either of the 2 disc formats - all i see are spinning donuts on my Vista screen and MFC application errrors.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled the program and even removed Nero Showtime to see if that was conflicting somehow but no change.

I have waded through all the help files and support points etc and come to the conclusion that customer support is non existent on this issue so I want my money back.

I've tried to email them but they say that you must telephone them personally ( first time I heard a company placing that obstacle before a customer ) and it is a real big obstacle as I live in what is obviously an obscure small country for Corel ( United Kingdom ) and there is no customer support phone line for the UK.

Can anyone tell me exactly what I have to do please ?

Now I see it - I take back what I said about the contact and thanks for your help :D

btw - a microsoft tech helper has told me that WinDVD 9 is incompatible with Vista operating systems updated with service pack 1 - is the WinDVD team aware of this ? The Vista SP1 has been out for some weeks now and is updating from the MS Updates site.

Ok so I followed the advice given to me in the automated reply I received after trying to send an email on the Corel site and I telephoned the UK call centre number

The call centre rep told me that I need to write to the following email address !!!!

emeasupport@corel.com

is that correct and what on earth is going on ?

don't get me wrong - i'm not a Corel basher - I love my WinDVD8 software and i'm just frustrated that WinDVD9 Blu Ray Plus is incapable of playing my HD discs but this crazy system of bouncing my emails - then telling me to phone call centres - who then tell me to write emails - it's just too much !

so I write to the email the telephone rep gave me and receive this automated response.....

" Dear Customer.

Your email to Corel has generated this automatic response.

Please note that we do not respond to incoming Technical Support issues via email or fax except by prior arrangement.

Should you require further assistance related to this or new issues about your Corel products, please call the appropriate Technical Support telephone hotline number from the list below. "

and the number they give me to call ? The exact number I called half an hour ago where they told me to write to the email that generated this message

This is nuts

:?

The only thing that I can say is yes it is. Corel's support is by far about the worst that there is. I think that's why they allow this web board to stand, without it, they may be in some trouble.

Thanks for the confirmation, I telephoned customer support (again) and was told this time that the automated email letter informing me I have no right to contact them is actually standard and in fact the necessary information had been received by them - a pity nobody could find 2 seconds to add that information to the email.

They told me they would deal with it and refund my account within an hour.

4 hours later, I phoned again ( same number same person ) who now says that they don't actually deal with refunds as they are technical support and have passed my details on to their admin department although she can't give me an email or telephone number for them.

Luckily I paid via paypal so if I don't hear any more I will open a dispute claim with them rather than spending another day trying to find emails and telephone numbers to contact them only to be spun around in circles.

Needless to say I will never buy another Corel product ever again.

A big thanks to the admin who run this site and the members who contribute to it because without your help, I would be even more demented than i am now. Corel don't desrve you guys doing their work for them.

If it makes you happy, I have Vista SP1 and WinDVD 9 plays Blu-Ray very well, better quality than the Cyberlink player in fact.

This is a good example of a reason why one should use their 30 day free trial. I did. See if it works on your system. Then if you get it, you know what you're getting...

though it's good to hear  I'm surprised there's much visual difference between the 2 - I keep expecting, probably incorrectly, that BD is BD is BD... I got a Cyberlink oem cd with my LiteOn. Maybe sometime if I'm really bored........

By better quality, I meant it loads faster and doesn't crash.

Oh! Maybe I *won't* play around with that oem cd!

Yes, I don't believe WinDVD9br has "crashed" on me yet.

And it does come up fairly quickly - less than a minute from DVD in and Corel not running yet. I often cruise newegg's reviews and found one component BD player that apparently took 2 minutes to start playing. Gad!

Was looking at a pixar collection last night and the DVD had some really weird controls - weird main menu - I found it much easier to just use keyboard arrows and enter to get through it. Other DVDs use a much more standard menu. Apparently Pixar/Disney felt they had to invent something new. Fun watching the previews on that one, though! BD all the way!
