Adding an Image to a Menu Template?

Post by GeorgeC »

I have searched and can't find an answer to my dilemma - I'm sure it's easy but how do I add an image to a menu template (as is shown in the thumbnails)? "Double-clicking" the object box does nothing.
Regards,
George

Sorry if this may sound a bit thick, but do you want images in the menu thumbnails? Or behind the thumbnails i.e. as background to the entire menu?

If you merely want an image on the thumbnail itself, it has to come from the video represented by the thumbnail. In the second page of the burning module, where you choose your thumbnail menu, then a thumbnail will appear for each video you are wanting to burn. Simply double click on a thumbnail and another small preview screen will appear with a jog slider below it. Drag the slider to the right until you find a point where you want the image to appear on the thumbnail and click OK. Do this for the rest of the thumbnails.

If you want a particular image as the background, then on the same page, click on the Edit tab, and about a third the way down the left hand side of screen you will see a button "Background image/video". Simply browse to where your chosen image is stored and follow the prompts.

Ken,
I'm referring to the "choose template" > "Edit" you refer to but I'm trying to amend a embedded frame e.g. the template 05vs_OneS03 wherein it shows 3 children. You load the template and the "frame" that showed the children is empty (for a reason I assume to load your own picture). However I can't bring up a dialogue box to allow me to select a picture.

George,

That "frame" is the image or thumbnail used on the title. In the preceding step, after you first insert your video clip, you can choose what you want to use as the thumbnail.

Just move the playhead to a position in the video that you would want to appear as the thumbnail. Next right-click on the clip in the time line and select Change Thumbnail..

The idea is still the same with those templates -- and the image still has to come from the inserted video. First, on page 1 of the burning module, in the big preview screen, you drag the jog bar to the right until you get an image in the video that you want. Then, down in the burning timeline, you right click and choose 'Change thumbnail'. That chosen image will now appear in the timeline thumbnail.

When you press Next, and then choose the template -- for example the one you mention with the three kids -- then that template's image will appear, but in place of the three kids will be your chosen image as selected above.

Note that, by default, it will be a motion thumbnail -- showing the video for about 30 seconds from the image you selected. If you want simply a still image, then on page two of the burning module, on the Edit tab, untick the box up in the top left of screen beside 'Motion Menu'.

Thank you Ken & Ron,
I eventually saw what you were saying. I was looking for visual menu direction rather than right click menus hence my confusion. I did look at the manual but couldn't see any reference.
I wonder how many other hidden menus there are?
