Sandy,

What software are to using to stitch photos? From what I saw in your video, it looked like they should stitch together nicely into one wide photo with not much loss, that way you could have a smoother video and not have to apply pan & zoom to each photo (there was 15, right?).

BTW, those are very nice pictures that you took! I bet your "Turkey Trot" was a blast. I enjoyed my time over in Europe ... so many places, so little time.

I uesed Photostitcher that came with the Canon camera. From the Ulead 360 software it looked like I wanted to make a VR file and my version of Stitcher didn't have a VR output so I had to find that update.

Then when I got the VR file I found that wasn't going to be what I wanted. I thought it would pan.

So I looked for something that would pan a panoramic photo and found WPanorama and I made this.

Yes, they stitched together nicely but when I just used the stitched photo in ulead I didn't have good resolution. Now I think I do.

Sandy,

Very nice! :D Now, if your (Photostitcher) software will let you (and I thought that Photostitcher would do this as I have a Canon S2 IS; however, I use Photoshop to stitch) crop the top and bottom jagged edges from your picture. You should still have enough pixels to obtain very good resolution in VS.

Now in VS insert the stitched photo. Then in Pan & Zoom use the little yellow boxes to zoom into the picture until the picture's top and bottom edges touch the edge of the preview screen. Then pan to your hearts content! You should get excellent (DVD) picture quality with this method.

P.S. I just thought of something as an afterthought. You could use the zoom feature to "crop" out the jagged top and bottom of your picture.

Yes, you are correct, Photostitcher automatically crops it, but I wasn't real accurate when I took the pictures and kept some of the white.

The .avi file I got from WPanorama was extremely sharp, but the .wmv that ended up on youtube isn't sharp at all.

My final .avi from Videostudio is going to be sharp, isn't it? I had tried to upload the .avi last night, but it sat there for 40 minutes and never finished.

does youtube take .avis?

Thanks again for your advise.

Yes your final "avi" should be sharp.

What video file formats can I upload?
YouTube accepts a wide range of video file formats such as .WMV, .AVI, .MOV, and .MPG transferred from most digital cameras, camcorders, and cell phones.

If you don't think your current video file format is recognized by YouTube, you may get the best results from converting your file to MPEG4 video with MP3 audio.
Uploading time depends on your internet "upload" speed. Uploading some large files my take a long time.

Sandy,

Try rendering your avi in VideoStudio to mpeg2, i.e. "same as project settings," which is the default settings for a project. The mpeg will be smaller than the avi and still have great quality.
