Pan / Zoom Still Image in 11.5 Plus?
Hello,
Before purchasing Ulead Video Studio 11.5 Plus , I am wondering if the capacity for panning / zooming a still image is available; and if so, how much control over this process is possible.
I would have looked this up in the user manual but I am having trouble downloading the PDF.
Thanks in advance,
Franklin.

Brava, Needlewoman!
It's particularly nice to see new members helping out!!
As you say, panning and zooming is there for both still images and video, and has the same extensive controls via key frames as in VS10. The controls in VS 9 which IIRC was the first version with pan and zoom, was somewhat more constrained than is now possible.

Thanks for the info!
That's an important feature, thanks.

Preset Pan in Videostuio 11.5
I have VideoStudio 11.5. I want to pan horizontally from left to right. There are many preset pan but it appears only one (middle of the first row) that doesn't also have zoom - just a straight across pan. I have a bunch of photos I want to do this on, but I want to go left to right instead of right to left. Can I just reverse that pan or do I have to a custom pan on each of the photos?
Seems like a simple pan should be there.

Re: Preset Pan in Videostuio 11.5
You would think they would have one that pans left to right. However unfortunately, they do not, and the only way to get the left-right without the zoom is to customize it, by reversing the pan. This will need to be done for each photo.duveneck wrote:I have VideoStudio 11.5. I want to pan horizontally from left to right. duvenek,
Which pan & zoom are you using? The video filter or the pan & zoom that can seen seen on the image tab on an inserted picture? On the image tab I have a pan & zoom that goes from left to right, it's the third option, second row.

thank you to both of you for your very prompt response to my query.
Yes, you are correct = third row does a pan left to right, but it also has zoomed in. If I want to change it to not zooming, I have to go in and customize every picture.
Yes, it is on images and not on video.
What I am doing is creating a stitched panorama. I have 15 photos which create a panorama. I stitched them together with stitching software, but that makes it so narrow in height that it is unusable.
So putting them into the time line and panning from left to right, it really comes out nice. I just didn't want it to zoom in. The pan which goes right to left has a zoom ratio of 116 and the one in the third row has 196.
I downloaded Ulead Cool 360 which seems like it would do what I want - (outputting it in quicktime would be fine) but I get an error that I don't have enough system resources and can't save it any way.
Any other suggestions?

Sandy,
Unfortunately you're going to have to use zoom, otherwise you'll have black areas where the Pan & Zoom goes off screen if you use no zoom. In other words at the beginning and end of each clip. I'd recommend that you use your stitched photo in VS and use that to pan. Try it, you'll see that it'll work great. BTW, losing part (and sometimes a seemingly big part) of your photos when stitching is normal, esp. the more photos you add. You'd have to have a perfectly aligned tripod to get a better stitch.
Hope this helps.

Sandy,
I quickly created a video that you can watch on my VideoStudio 11/11 Plus channel at YouTube. "Using a Stitched Photo" shows how well this can work. I think I took about five, maybe six pictures for this shot.
Enjoy!

Simply copy the link and paste it into the post.duveneck wrote:Thank you that sure is nice and smooth.
I made one also and put it in youtube, but I don't know how to give you a link.
the title is "stitched photos in capadaccia" which is spelled wrong so it should be easy to find.
Once it's processed, do I get a link???
Thanks again.

Very nice! Did you use the stitched together photo or each photo separately in VS?
I was getting ready to show you how to change an url, but Steve beat me to the punch as I was writing this!

Thank you,
I used the individual pictures and surprisingly they aren't horribly choppy. I'm working on about a two hour video of that trip and I spend way too much time on them so I really don't want to adjust each of the 15 pans instead I spend hours looking for a preset pan or some other solution. ;)
Thanks for your reply. I really enjoy the software and will continue to work on my "Turkey Trot" video.
