Smartsounds stops after ~ 3 minutes

Post by jpmorgan49 »

I have searched the Forum but didn't find this topic. It seems to have just started. Initial info:

VideoStueo 11+
Flashplayer 7 (from installation disk)
Quicktime 7 (from installation disk)
Smartsounds 3.0.9.0

I was creating a small video for a friend. She gave me 3 clips and I was making a movie for her. The entire movie was about 5 min. The last step I added a Smartsound Track. The music plays for about 3min 35 seconds and the line goes flat, no music. There is a bleep in the flat line every 2 seconds or so. I tried different tracks and they were all the same. I know I created 9 and 10 min movies before with no problem. I even tried creating a new project from scratch with the same results. I can't think of anything else I have done besides upgrading to 3.0.9.0 in Smartsounds. Thanks in advance.

Try running the 3.0.9.0 installer again - sounds like it went wonky.

I tried reinstalling the update and it didn't help. I started a new project and put enough clips for about 9 min. The Smartsound is fine until about 3min 35 sec. goes flatline but comes back at 7min 09sec. I'm stumped...

I wonder if your smartsound library has somehow become corrupted, try rebuilding the library.

This is apparently a bug with that update. After reading this thread, I checked and had not installed it, so I did. I also get the cut-out between 3 and 4 minutes..

Just to confirm it is the update that causes this, I removed SmartSound from the Control Panel>Add/Remove Programs. Then I reinstalled it using the Content Pack from the VS11+ installation files. This reverted my SmartSound back to it's previous version. I no longer get the cut-out around 3:35.

The version of SmartSound installed by VS11 is 3.0.5.0 and I had no problems with this version. Reverting it back removed the problem.

I contacted/completed a Tech Support Email form with SmartSound.com, advising them of this problem. Hopefully they will respond with a fix to the update.

I made this thread a sticky, so that others may read it, and not install the SmartSound Update 3.0.9.0 for Ulead

Wow, I contributed!! Thanks all. I was thinking of reverting back to the original but wanted to hear what you thought. As soon as I get home from work tonight I'll uninstall Smartsounds and reinstall from disk. Thanks again for all your help. This really is a Great Forum, especially for us new guys....

Thanks for bringing this to our attention JP..:)

I've received a reply from SmartSound. They are actively investigating this problem. They had me test the prior update (3.0.6.0) and it does not have this cut-out problem. This is so to help narrow down the cause.

I've replied to them with my findings, so they will probably have this corrected soon..
