VideoStudio 10 package video for streaming

Post by kid_le »

I've captured my video from a DV Camcorder into videostudio, how do I package the video for streaming. Currently, when I create a video file, the file size is a bit large (45mb). I'm looking to get is substantially reduced for streaming. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks.

Welcome to the forums,

Are you wanting to stream it from your own website or one of the many video sites such as YouTube, Veoh, or BlipTV?

It does matter which site you're using, as each tend to compress different formats better. Most of them will convert your uploaded video to FLV (flash) format.

Thanks for the response Vidoman. I have a video file that I need to publish on an mms server on our department's intranet site. All workstations here have Windows Media Player. What would be the best format to save the video file as to produce the most efficient streaming results?

I would probably use WMV, 640 x 480, 30fps. There are some WMV LAN presets. You would probably need to customize one of them, as the frame sizes are only 320x240, which is fairly small.

To help balance out file size and quality, you can customize any of the WMV profiles.
