Saving Project as a Video File

Post by AKav »

On the Theme/Slideshow tab, there is a link to save a slideshow as a video file. The options are standard quality, good quality, high quality, long play and customize. When I save a slideshow as high quality, I know it creates an .mpeg file and I know the file can be viewed using Windows Media Player.

I understand there are multiple types of .mpeg (i.e. 1, 2, 3, 4, 7, 21). That type am I creating? When I clicked the custom tab (just searching for my answer) I saw that the save options are:

MPEG files
24 Bits, 720 x 480, 29.97 fps
(DVD-NTSC), 4:3
Video data rate: Variable (Max. 6000 kbps)
Audio data rate: 224 kbps
MPEG audio layer 2, 48 KHz, Stereo

I'm trying to share my slideshow with someone and he's asked for mp4 format.

Thanks in advance for any help.

You're creating a DVD compliant MPEG2 file when you output from DVDPS4 in high quality. Your friend probably wants to view your movie on a portable device (iPod, PSP, or similar). If you don't already have a standalone video conversion app that converts to MPEG4 I'd recommend a freeware proggy called "Free Video-To-iPod-Converter" which can be downloaded here:

Once installed, you can load your MPEG 2 clip and choose a suitable MPEG 4 output profile.

Hope that helps,
