DVD drive is a asus
DVD movie factory 6 Plus (with updates)
Copied videos from handycam MiniDV through capture video option
-format: DVD-HQ 16:9 saved file as MPG
Media: DVD-R 4.7GB
Recording media: DVD-VIDEO
Create to disk: checked

Nero uninstalled from system. No other burning software installed
Edited video clips, followed the steps and added the dvd menu. got to where you need to burn the dvd and when i hit burn it goes through the steps of creating it and then when it seems to start to try and burn the data it has issues, wont burn. It will hang there and the dvd drive will stop lighting up, usually this causes the software to lock up and ruin the dvd burn.
Is my record settings for my handycame wrong, (dvd-hq 16:9)? any ideas?
Unable to burn final project onto DVD-R
I'm with similar problem, if someone could help me:
I'm using the trial version of Ulead DVD Movie Factory 6.0 Plus for the first time. I created a slide show with photo and video. When I ask to burn the DVD, its starts the process but after 30 min it stops with any error message and show me the inicial window.
Please help!

Welcome to the forums to both..
@tragik;
Thank you for having your system information completed in your profile..
Try creating DVD Folders instead of burning a disc. If you're able to do this, then it would indicate a possible conflict with the type of medium you're using.
@mlmnc;

@tragik,
I'm glad it's working, and thank you for sharing how you got it resolved...
@mlmnc,
The "avi" file is a container, which can hold various video formats. Looking at some of Canon's cameras, such as a PowerShot, it records video using the MJPEG (Motion JPEG) Codec, at 1024 x 768, 640 x 480, or 320 x 240 frame sizes, and either 30fps or 15fps.
Now your project settings are set for PAL DVD, having the frame size of 720 x 576, and frame rate of 25fps. This means that the program will have to adjust the frame rate down to only 25fps (cutting out 5 frames every second), and resize each frame.
Given the above, I would say that MovieFactory is choking on trying to create a DVD compatible video file from the video file you provide. DVDMF must create the files that meet DVD specs, before being able to burn a disc.
DVDMF6+ has a nice feature called Fast Export. Highlight your video clip, and press the Export Selected Clips, which will open a menu. On the menu choose Fast Export DVD Compliant video. In the Save As dialog window, give it a name, and location to save it. This will render a DVD compatible MPEG-2 video file from your video clip.
After that is done, delete your DigiCam clip, and insert your newly created MPEG-2 file.
I've tried this on a short clip shot on my Kodak. It also uses the MJPEG Codec, with the 640 x 480 frame size, and 30fps. The results is not real bad, however the video is a little jerky (not fluid or smooth).
