Problem With Capturing Video -

Post by shookiejones »

Hey All -

I am getting an error everytime I try to capture any video longer than about 10 minutes The error is as follows:

Ulead encountered a problem and needs to close ¡V

Appname: vstudio.exe
ModName: uldvrite.ax

Once I get the error I of course close it and then I lose any video that's been captured.
I thought I had a screen print with more info - But I'll have to check again when I get back home. If this sounds familiar to anyone in the meantime -Please help.
NOTE: I just got done capturing two DV worth of video, and creating a DVD etc. When I was done I deleted all the avi files associated with this project to clear space.
The problem popped up shortly there after.
To answer the next question - Yes I was careful and I didn't delete any system files or directories!

Properties of your source files: Mini DV

Canon Elure 85 - Firewire

Project Properties:
NTSC drop frame (29.97 fps)
MPEG files
24 bits, 720 x 480, 29.97 fps
Lower Field First
(DVD-NTSC), 16:9
Video data rate: Variable (Max. 8000 kbps)
LPCM Audio, 48000 Hz, Stereo

Output format DVD:

NTSC[/b]

Okay I think I have just about all the info I can get - If there is anything more I am missing, let me know.

That being said - I THINK I may have solved the INITIAL issue with the capturing, as I was able to capture 25 minutes of video without getting the error.
I resolved this by reinstalling\repair.
UNFORTUNATELY i have a new problem.
The video that is captured appears interlaced\venetian blind(ed) during
"clip" playback. Strangely enough it doesn't occur during "project"
playback
I haven't tried the next step of trying to export the video to DVD to see what I get, ONLY because this has never happened in the past, and I don't want to create a coaster if I don't have to.

Thanks to anyone who can provide any help at all!

In addition to the above link:
Please Read This Before posting wrote:SUBJECT: Please use a subject that describes your exact problem instead of making us guess what's in your post.
Sorry if you this sounds like I am telling you off - I am not.
You can alter the title by using the Image button on your first post.

The purpose of providing a meaningful title is this.
There are a number of members on the forum who try and help troubleshoot problems - myself included. In the early days of the user forum it was not too difficult to be able to read all of the posts submitted since the last time I (or one of the other troubleshooters) had logged on.

On the Forum Home page at the top right is a link
view posts since last visit In the forums early days this would perhaps range between 10-30 posts. Today however the board has grown in popularity and more products are now catered for including the former Intervideo products before the merger with Ulead.

There have been days when I have logged on to find over 70 new posts since my last visit. It is of course impossible to read each and every one of them and so it is necessary to look at the titles to pick out posts where I feel I am able to offer some worthwhile input.

if you are viewing perhaps the VideoStudio forum and a post is entitled
"VideoStudio" - it doesn't really give you a clue, similarly in the PhotoImpact forum a post entitled [PhotoImpact] is equally as meaningless.

Giving a post a suitable title is a means of helping us to help you.

still having issues...

Post by shookiejones »

With capturing anything over a few minutes in length. Same issue with the error message:
VideoStudio has encountered a serious error and needs to close.
What I did notice is there are a series of .avi files in the capture folders but they are corrupted (of course).
I don't get it.

For now the venetian blind\interlacing issue seems to have corrected itself.

Sorry for being a spaz - any help would be greatly appreciated, and again if you need anymore info
