No not really. One very important difference is that MSP is being discontinued. Corel is no longer developing it. They are not going to be issuing any more patches, and it was not developed to work on Vista.
MSP is considered more of a prosumer NLE, while VS is a consumer NLE. There's such a wide spectrum of differences that it would take a long while to list them all.
Download trial versions of each (while you can still get a trial version of MSP), and check them both out.
Sadly you can no longer get upgrade pricing for MSP, just the full purchase price..

Hi guys
I know MSP seems to be over, but where is the release formally saying its discontinued? I can't find one anywhere on the Corel site. I ask simply because the Corel MSP website doesn't appear to say its a discontinued product and even talks up the product; isn't it faintly illegal selling a discontinued product in this way?

There's a world of difference between illegal and unethical. Corel and ethics are two words that have never gone well together and I go back at least 2 decades saying this. However, Corel is not the most unethical software vendor; they meet their match with at least half-a-dozen others, starting with one in Redmond, WA!

Then to top it off, not allow special upgrade pricing. That's like offering a camcorder at a 50% off sale, then when the camcorder is no longer being manufactured offering the remaining stock at full price..
Most stores here in the US, have what's called Clearance Sales, where they reduce the prices up to 80%...

I use UVS10 for my DVD, but tried the trial of MSP. To my opinion VS cannot do the mixing of more than 2 layers video material and MSP did an excellent job. I did try the trial of UVS11.5 and saw that there is a little bit more room for editing. So what's really going to replace MSP? Otherwise I am a very satisfied Ulead consumer.vidoman wrote:No not really. One very important difference is that MSP is being discontinued. Corel is no longer developing it.
