I'm not dissing youtube, it obviously has an enormous audience (and a corresponding enormous amount of junk content, a lot of it poorly filmed or for different purposes than maybe most of us make video).
For things where your audience is maybe invited or part of a more discerning group though, the quality of the youtube is poor, and higher quality does not mean very demanding on the target computers or bandwith - even 640x480 would be luxury, and this doesn't tax most modern machines. Also, vimeo, for example, allows you to download the files to watch at leisure if that's needed (this is configurable).
I suspect youtube will increase quality in future, maybe for subscription content or popular content....but that's not today. I just don't find it does justice to what I'm trying to do right now.

Why not try VEOH - there is no such limit.jpal wrote:I've given up on Youtube for anything serious because of the mediocre quality at best, and their attitude to PAL-land.
May I recommend Vimeo, they have a 500M limit per week upload, and can support true 720p HD video in AVC.
There are perhaps a dozen sites available for sharing video online. Another popular one is Google Video
