i just got a vpc-c1 xacti digital camcorder today that came with this ulead software. The camcorder runs on a secure digital memory card and record mpeg-4 digital vidoe (VGA). The ulead software won't allow me to open any of my video footage i've recorded as it doesn't recognise the files. it doesn't seem to recognise that my camorder is pluged into the computer either like other programs which automatically open my files from the camcorder. please help me solve this problem

If your camera came with VS7 then I think someone in the marketing area is either cunning/crafty or stupid. To my knowledge, VS7 will not work with mpeg-4 files, so there is not much point in having it.
However - and here's the kicker - if you have a version of VS, it is comparatively cheap to upgrade to VS8, and for a little extra cash you can buy the mpeg-4 plugin, which should allow you to import and work with the files in the camera.
