Checking video quality

Post by rdsatkaycee »

Using Movie Factory IV to copy vhs to DVD. After several "middle of the disk failures" I have started checking for bad disk by fast forward and random playing. So far I seem to have found that if it doesen't stop, stutter, or pixelate in fast forward that it will play ok. Does this make sense and seem appropriate. TIA

I check the quality by jumping to the next chapter point. If I see stuttering, stopping or pixelation, then I know I have a problem. This method works for me and is fairly quick.

Stuttering is usually the result of bad media. Try burning at a slower rate, that might help with bad discs. I use good discs and make about 1 or 2 coasters a year out of hundreds.
