Which Scart?

Post by Moosey »

Hi

I'm trying to capture via a scart connected to my video's AV output. However, the scart only has yellow and white leads and Videostudio cant detect a signal.

Do I need another scart with all 4 leads? (i.e yellow, white, red and S video)

Thanks

Shouldn't be a problem so long as you don't mind mono audio on what you record. The problem with VS not seeing it is most likely to do with how the signal is getting into the computer, but there is no detail about your capture/video card on your posting. How are you connecting your video to the PC, and are you UK or other?

Which Scart

Sorry, should have said.

I'm in the UK and am connecting my scart via Easy Cap USB 2.0.

Video card is NVIDIA MCP67M

Cheers

OK, I'm assuming you are getting no capture at all. Can VS see the USB capture device? If it can, and you just are not getting a signal, have you got a 'SCART Out' or 'bi-directional SCART' lead? Some of them only work one way! If VS cannot see the USB device, check the device is there in the device manager bit of your 'system' info in control panel (assuming XP or the like, I have no experience of Vista!). If it's not there try re-installing the capture device and run VS again. (what version of VS are you using?)

Which Scart

Hi Leezy2

Yep it looks like I need a SCART to PHONO out adaptor. I'll try reinstalling my capture device as well.

Thanks

most scarts are only wired for one way travel, you need a two way fully wired scart, which should have a switch on it for changing the signal from in to out.
