Lynda.com Videos & Exercise Files

Post by suzshook »

I have two questions:

1. Has anyone ever found the Lynda.com (PSP X2) Exercise files?

2. Does anyone have the link on the Corel site where the videos can be downloaded? I have a link in my Tips & Tricks, but it no longer works.

Thanks! Suz

Hi Suz
After searching around, I found I only have the PSPX version downloaded.
However I went to my email from Corel for my PSPP X2 Order Acceptance and have now clicked for a 134 Mb download. :o

It is known as LYN12_Corel_EN_ESD.exe and is in the same download folder as the X2 program itself. I can try and type it out for you if you want. Just give me a shout :!:

To get a copy of them, run LYN12_Corel_EN_ESD.exe and leave the navigation window open.
Copy and paste the next line into the Run dialogue in the Windows Start menu -

Code: Select all

%temp%\ir_ext_temp_0\AutoPlay\Videos
You need to copy them to somewhere else before you close the navigation window.

Thanks, Tim. I know I can get the videos this way, but are users able to get the Lynda.com videos if they don't have PSP X2 installed? This cabability was there in previous versions.

And how about those exercise files????? Where are they????

Thanks, Tadjio - again, I know about this - for me, it's on the X2 CD. But is it available elsewhere, - perhaps somewhere on the Corel site? - for the user who wants to view the video tutorials perhaps before purchasing PSP X2? You could get the videos in previous versions.

I have a link in my PSP X2 Tips - which apparently worked in the past - but this link no longer works. Here's the link I have in the Tips:
ftp://coreluser-d:Aoh45oP0@cfs.corel.com/

Any clues????

I've contacted Corel Customer care about these tutorial files, as I never received them. We'll see if I get a link to download them. If so and Corel does not object, I could upload them and post links in our Tutorial section..

I just downloaded it from the Corel web-site, as I explained :!:
In my email from Corel for my Order Acceptance (download version), it gives the full web address when I hover over the link, but I can't cut & paste it. I would have to hover, memorize a bit, type it, and then go back for more...
Do you want it? :?:

I would like to see what they sent you, Tadjio, and whether or not anyone can get to that link, even if they do/did not purchase the download version of X2. Perhaps it would be best to send it to me offline - try suzshook at adelphia.net. Thanks, Tadjio. Suz

If Corel has made it impossible for people to access the videos except through the link for purchasing the program, then I suspect that they - or perhaps Lynda.com - have decided that only registered users will be allowed to have access to them. It doesn't make a lot of sense to me, because of course the easier you make it for people to use the program when using the trial version, the better the chances that the person will make the final purchase, and the videos definitely do make it easier to learn the basic tools - and then some - available in PSP.

Are these tutorial videos and exercises really worthwhile ? I've been messing around with Corel for about a week. They've sent me 2 sets of links, the ftp://.... and they are not accessible. I get errors anywhere from the directory does not exist, or a Logon incorrect.

This is rediculous, as I have had files sent to me from Ulead, via ftp and have no problems accessing them. I just tried one I received about 2 months ago and I'm still able to access the file.. :x :x

If you're quite familiar with PSP than maybe not. They are very good for a beginner however. All of the videos for v.X can be downloaded in one big file here:

http://tinyurl.com/fjs9g

You can download each of the v.XI videos from Suz' site here (but each has to be downloaded individually):

http://home.roadrunner.com/~suzshook/11 ... 00.htm#190

They will contain most of what's in the v.X2 videos.

Today, I received replies to my queries to Corel about the Lynda.com video tutorials, and I've updated the PSP X2 Tips to reflect the locations Corel provided me for downloading the tutorials. There are two problems, however, with what they sent me:

1. The Exercise files are not available in the link they provide.
2. The "missing" 11 videos are still missing in the provided link! They did send me an additional like for some other "see in action" type videos on their site, but these are silent videos, and not nearly as comprehensive as those I downloaded from their site months ago.

It doesn't seem that it would be so difficult to provide this information in a complete and usable format! This blows my mind that this is such a monumental chore to get something this simple rolled up and available!!!

My Tips page is not available at this time - my host screwed up my site this morning, - but as soon as I get things straigtened out with them, the links can be found in PSP X2 Tip #190. Am working on getting things straightened out with my host. Suz
