Good Morning All,
A general query - sorry if its been asked before. I have just got a new PC & wanted to try windvd 9.
I have been happily using an older version & have been using screen grabs like crazy - getting some great pics of the family etc from our DVD camera.
My problem is that whilst I have found out how to do it on the new version it really seems like a step backwards. I can't seem to just step along a few frames to quite capture the picture I want - be it my Auntie Flo going head first into the kids paddling pool or my efforts on a skateboard.
I think I'm missing something but it seems less friendly that the older version. I want to be able to carefully more the DVD along until I get exactly the shot I'm after - then take the grab.
Much hilarity is at stake within our household if my line of excellent screen grabs dries up!
Any help appreciated..
Henri

I've got a question along those lines. The hotkeys use "N" as a forward frame step and "cntrl-N" seems to step several frames backwards in WinDVD9. That's fine because backwards has always been harder than forwards. Unfortunately WinDVD9 tries so hard to evaluate content and picture and play setting that if you don't use the keys while it's "in the groove" the works freeze up until it sorts itself out.
My question is what happened to the ability to use the mouse wheel for frame moving and where did smooth backwards playback go? I wish very much that I could find my WinDVD6 Platinum disk. The program died with my old hard drive and it ran great every time.
Anybody find a scroll wheel control for WinDVD9?

Took me weeks and several purchases of the wrong version of win5 (non platinum), finally I have found someone, you who has confirmed for me that WinDVD6 has the features Smooth playback Mouse scroll stepping. Thank you for the info.crashworthy wrote: My question is what happened to the ability to use the mouse wheel for frame moving and where did smooth backwards playback go? I just ran over and bought the last copy over at Amazon.
I would just like to say to the mods and the developers, thanks for throwing out all the good versions of your software year over year and rebuilding them from scratch. Thanks to you I feel no motivation to purchase your newest version at 100 dollars. No seriously stop throwing out all of the features people want. Your really making it hard for me to give you money. I seriously just spent at least 100 dollars attaining this older copy of your software through trial and error, were you seriously just lost some dosh because you don't feel retaining features is worth your valuable time.
Anyways I at least I got what I need now.
