Pasting A Different Face to a Video

Post by WLStinson »

Hello,
The boss would like me to take a video that is already done and then past someone elses face to the subject in the video, I have seen this done but have never done it and was hoping for some pointers, or for someone to point me to some directions on how this is done.

Thank you for the input

How much time do you have to get this done? With VS it is going to take quite some time. How long is the video clip?

To do this you need a special program, like Video Graphics Lab, or other "Rotoscoping" programs. It can be done in VS, however you will need to do a lot of keyframing.

I'm going to direct you to a tutorial called number plate blur. It will give you a general idea on where to start. Instead of blurring an object or face, you will need to replace it. The replacement face would go in an overlay track.

Number Plate Blur

Keep in mind that the replacement face will need to be on a transparent background. You could use a PNG, GIF or TGA image file(s), as they support transparency, and VS recognizes it.
