Not me. My reasons are the same as yours and like you I most dislike no longer being able to resize the crop rectangle by dragging anywhere along the side.
I use X2 for everything, but I go back to X to crop.

Would you consider reverting to XI and abandoning X2?

After 6 months I've lost touch as to what we gained in moving forward from XI to X2

I agree, I do not like the crop tool.....does not easily set and hold an aspect ratio......
I do not need the rotate......

I also will crop elsewhere (usually Gimp) using rectangle select. Crop to selection...would do this in X2 but can't set an aspect ratio in the rectangular select...

I actually hate the new Crop facility, as it stands.

The inability to adjust the crop rectangle by clicking ANYWHERE on one of the sides is a real downer, as is the loss of the ability to set the left, right, top, and bottom coordinates of the crop box. However, the crop to new image capability is a nice touch. Not enough to get me to use PSP X2 though - I'm still using PSP X for most everything.

Yes, the lack of co-ordinates is a pain.
I never use the crop to new image as it goes against my haitual workflow

Oh but it does provide the coordinates, as well as the ability to enter the Height and Width of the crop...

But you used to be able to enter values for Left, Right, Top and Bottom too, but that was removed in X2. PSP has generally been dumbed down in the last three versions.

Well, in fact, I don't mind the "new" crop facility at all! However, I crop visually, not by coordinates. So in most cases, the lack of being able to take an image anywhere by the side isn't crucial to me.

Actually, I'm more likely to grab the crop tool by a corner; always have been! I'll drag it around that way, manipulating it until I like the shape etc. Mind you, I also work with a Wacom pad, so that makes life especially easy.

The problem with cropping is even worse if you zoom in so that you cannot see the mid-point handle

But I would never want to crop without being able to see the entire scene or image; that's just totally against my nature! The balance of the entire image is that important to me.

Sure, if there were some minute detail somewhere, then I'd want to take that into consideration, but generally I would more likely deal with that with some other method, such as cloning, than via cropping. Large details would be dealt with during the overall cropping.

This means, of course, that I end up with some non-standard sized rectangles, but as I do my own matting when I want to print, it's not a problem. And if I'm not printing, it's even less of a concern.

As I play with PSPP X2, I realize that my cropping methods in it are almost identical to those I've used in all previous versions. The difference in X2 is hardly affecting me at all.

I don't want to labour the issue but after first viewing the entire scene or image and setting the aspect ratio, I like to zoom in to the fine detail and make sure for examle that I retain a whole leaf or tree at the edge.
With X2 you cannot then fine tune the edge crop by moving the middle side handle if it is not visible.
