Failed to burn data onto the disc. [534:-2147216291:0]

Post by frog270 »

I am using VS11+ with the HD pack and update.

When encoding the DVD, the first bar goes to 99%, then stays for about 30min-1hr -- dvd burner light slowly blinks in regular intervals during this 'wait' phase, then a message box pops up on the screen with the error Failed to burn data onto the disc. [534:-2147216291:0]. I am trying to encode AVCHD videos from my HD camcorder... even if I try to burn a quick 2min video, I get this error. Exact same error also occured with Media Studio Pro 8. I have never been able to successfully burn a DVD using the Corel products.

I am running Vista SP1 x64, Duo-Quad, 4GB ram, ASUS DRW-2014S1T DVD burner. Am able to burn using Nero without problems.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

If you do a search using "AVCHD" as a keyword, and in the author's box insert member name "etech6355", select VideoStudio for the forum, and Popular Products for the category, Search-Previous 6 months; you should get about 8 pages of results relating to this.

When searching I will generally choose to Display Results as Posts, and for the Return First-"All Available". This way in the results you can quickly skim through the posts to see if it is one that would apply to you..;)

**Etech6355 is our "resident expert" on these HD/BD, AVCHD h.264 stuff. He has posted a lot of information about this. I thought I read one post where you can not burn AVCHD to Standard DVD, it must be an actual HD DVD, or something to that effect..

I followed the search instructions and got a wealth of information... still sorting through them.

I did find that you can Burn AVCHD to standard DVD's, which makes sense because there are only 2 size disc's available; 4.7GB and 8.5GB. Hopefully I will find out soon why it doesn't work for me..

Did try burning a standard MPEG to a standard DVD and that works... anything AVCHD related fails at the burn process though.

I contacted Corel support through email -- Essentially, I can burn as DVD without issue, but when I try burning AVCHD, I get the error. Doesn't seem to be any reason for this and logic dictates that if you can burn 1 dvd through the program, you should be able to burn more unless there is a bug in the software.

Anyway, after 6 days and 2 emails to support, I get the following reply.
After carefully reviewing this incident it is recommended that you call into our technical support center for further assistance. E-mail is an alternative option for technical support on resolving minor issues. Due to the nature of this particular issue, and the need for interaction, contacting Corel directly via telephone will provide you with a quicker and more tailored solution for the issue you are facing.

Please Note: A fee per support incident may apply when calling
Anyway, I promptly returned the product, which was a FREE phone call by the way. Hopefully someone else will have better luck determining the fix for the issue.

I'm getting the exact same error but I'm just trying to burn a project to standard DVD format. It's been working fine has started to act up all of a sudden. It happened to me once but went away. After burning a few more DVDs it has started again.

I am getting the same error message as well when trying to burn on a standard DVD -R disc. However, it works fine burning a -RW disc.

I have tried converting the project into an MPEG, closing the project file and then going to Share and dropping in the MPEG file and then trying to burn, but with the same result.

Any help or ideas would be much appreciated.

I downloaded and installed the latest Direct X drivers for XP and this seems to have corrected the issue.

I downloaded the drivers and still the same problem occurs.

Anyone else who has any ideas would be most welcome.
